Mermaid Message for Paint Party Friday

In all my frustration this week with my creative block….or whatever has been going on….I started doing some blog hopping and came across this cool blog called “Paint Party Friday”.
I have mentioned in a few posts how I have been wanting to do some painting again, so I thought joining this online party would be great inspiration.
In my last post I showed you a background in blues I had started in an effort one day just to do SOMETHING creative.  Well the idea I had for that background was not inspiring me anymore, but I had another idea.
I have also been pretty inspired lately by quotes and sayings and I love a painting with a quote.  So I gave this mermaid a message to say……
Something we probably forget a lot!
From the Paint Party Friday blog (don’t forget to go check out all the other blog postings for todays paint party!) I found Kristin Dudish’s blog.  This lady does some awesome paintings and sketches and she is one of the creators of Paint Party Friday.
Kristin has a button on her blog called “30 in 30 for 30”.  She did 30 paintings in 30 days for $30!!  Pretty cool idea hey?!?!
I have been trying to come up with another way to raise money for the Humane Society that I volunteer for and I think I may do my own twist on this.  I emailed Kristin to ask permission to put my own twist on it and she was kind enough to say yes.  I am still brainstorming the whole idea, but stay tuned!
Have a great weekend!

  1. Cute and whimsical. I'm also a quote junkie and like incorporating them into my mixed media. It's my first PPF and I'm enjoying seeing everyones creativity.

  2. Very nice mermaid and message. I love her eyes. Last year I did 40 paintings in 40 days, wow…it was difficult but I finished before the 40 days were up. It's fun too. Happy PPF!

  3. Welcome to PPF! Glad to have you join the party! What a fun mermaid you've painted! Love the colors. Great quote, too. Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Welcome to the party and I love your mermaid – great saying to attach to her as well given the story of the little mermaid and how she wanted to change (for a man!!)

The 30x30x30 sounds interesting – I hadn't seen that on Kristen's blog but I'll be interested to see what you come up with!

  5. Hi Dawn! This is my first week at PPF too! I was suffering from creative block last week too when I stumbled on PPF's site. I thought it would be a great motivator to get me back into the painting world. I love your mermaid. She is really fun and whimsical. I love paintings with quotes in them too, but I never seems to know what quotes to put on mine! I hope you participate in PPF next week too! Have a great weekend!

  6. What a cute mermaid, and the saying is classic. Sorry your muse is on vacation but she'll be back. I'm involved in the 365 Art Project where we make a piece of art everyday for one year. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with all that art when it's over. It's very challenging but so worth it. Welcome to the party!

  7. so lovely to meet you! And what a lovely corner on the blogosphere you have..so fresh and bright and colourful!:) Love your mermaid and the words she speaks…ah such wise advice…if only it were easy! :)x

  8. Welcome to the party, BahamaDawn! We created PPF for exactly the reasons you mentioned – both Kristin and I wanted to paint more and we thought some company, inspiration and motivation/accountability (the weekly check-ins) would help! So glad you found us and we hope it helps you with your painting!

I love your mermaid – she is so charming and of course, a great quote! Beautiful!
